How much does a sport court cost?

Easily the question we get asked most frequently is “how much does a sport court cost”. The cost of your dream sport court will vary depending on several factors, but here’s a breakdown to give you a general idea:

  • Size: This is a major factor. The materials for each project are based on a price per square foot. The more area, the higher the cost. This is why we work with our customers to find the size of the court that metes their needs without breaking the budget.
  • Materials: Concrete is the most durable base for any sport court.  Modular tile system added to the sport court help improve the playing experience and longevity of the court.
  • Build site conditions: How much slope of the terrain around the site for the court can significantly impact the cost to build a sport court. Sites with significant slope in the grade will require dirt work and retaining wall projects where as relatively flat sites will not. As you can imagine, adding a retaining wall to your sport court project will increase the overall cost of the project.
  • Features: Beyond the basic court surface, consider extras like lighting for night games, a net system for tennis or pickleball, or spectator seating. Custom features will also add to the overall cost.

Basketball sport court cost

To get an estimate of the cost to get a basketball sport court built in your backyard you’ll inevitably need to balance the size of the court you want with the space available and your budget.

Full Court (94′ x 50′)

Recommended for schools/municipalities. Likely cost prohibitive for a true residential setting

Full Half Court (60′ x 30′)

Our experience is a full half court sized court isn’t necessary in a typical backyard setting. It’s much larger than needed to have a good backyard basketball game going with the neighborhood kids.

Full Three Point Line (Approximately 48′ x 28′)

The most common size for people looking for a “backyard basketball court”. Large enough to shoot three’s from around the court, play other sports (ahem pickleball anyone?) and not break the bank.

Minimum size (26′ x 26′)

Our experience is 26′ x 26′ is the smallest you would want to build a backyard basketball court.

pickleball sport court cost

Standard pickleball courts are 44′ long by 20′ wide without any out of bounds area. If you’re going to build a court strictly for pickleball, we recommend a court surface of 48′ – 52′ long by 28′ wide.

Based on those dimensions, you can see why pickleball courts are so commonly added to courts we install with a Full Three Point Line sized basketball court.

You’d be able to play multiple sports safely with the added out of bounds space in the basketball court.

multisport court cost

Basketball is typically the most requested sport court surface. Within the standard court sizes for a backyard basketball court, we’re able to work in a variety of other activities to create a true multi-sport court.

The most common are:

  1. Basketball
  2. Pickleball
  3. Four square
  4. Bags or cornhole
  5. Volleyball

There will be a slight upcharge to include the lines into the tile design, but
